Safety and Maintenance Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with all DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations for the fleet.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of vehicles to ensure safety standards are met.
  • Coordinate and schedule routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections for the fleet, including dry van trucks.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, driver logs, and safety inspections.
  • Investigate and resolve safety violations or incidents, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for drivers and staff.
  • Monitor and manage driver qualification files, ensuring compliance with licensing and certification requirements.
  • Collaborate with dispatchers and operations teams to minimize downtime and maintain efficient fleet operations.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices in fleet safety and maintenance.
  • Provide reports and recommendations to management on safety and maintenance performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months proven experience in fleet safety and maintenance, in the trucking or logistics industry in the USA.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and compliance standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, mechanics, and management.
  • Proficiency with maintenance management software and tools.
  • Ability to develop and conduct safety training sessions.

Qualifications with added value

  • Proficiency in English is highly valued, and a slight accent is not a barrier.
  • Fluency in Spanish is beneficial.
  • Tech-savviness, especially an interest in technology and systems, is an advantage and may lead to higher earning potential.

Payment Structure

  • This position offers a fixed base salary, which will be determined based on relevant experience and skill level, along with a bonus structure. Bonuses are calculated based on quarterly performance appraisal.
